Dingle Peninsula - one of Ireland's most beautiful regions
The Dingle Peninsula is the most northerly of the mountainous headlands of Kerry. The Peninsula, at its most dramatic, can be seen by travelling north-eastwards from Dingle to Tralee, through the heights of the Conor Pass that reveals sight of the summit of Mount Brandon, Ireland's second highest peak.
Dingle town is Europe's most westerly town, sheltered by hills on three sides, its harbour is one of the world's natural beauty spots - home to an active fishing fleet and resident dolphin - FUNGI. It has a diving centre, sailing club, art galleries, craft shops and excellent accommodation. Dingle has many colourful pubs offering entertainment and traditional Irish music unique to the area. Fine restaurants abound, using local produce and fish straight from the harbour.
Attractions and locations of note include the Great Blasket Island, Slea Head, Dunquin, Ballyferriter, Smerwick, Cloghane, Murreagh, Ballydavid, Feohanagh, Brandon, Conor Pass, Stradbally, Castlegregory, Camp, Blennerville, Ventry, Dingle, Lispole, Annascaul and Inch Beach. This site provides general information on the Dingle Peninsula including guides to beaches, activities, fishing, golf, attractions, evening activities, water sports, walking and tours. A map page helps with navigation and for those looking for good food and great craic a listing of pubs and restaurants is provided.
